I have always been disappointed with Russia's (Putin's) favoritism of Israel. Israel was directly involved in having one of Russia's planes being shot down and in helping Ukraine yet Russia just ignores it. Russia is friendlier to Israel than Iran. Your talk has helped me understand. I think Russia made a mistake in letting Syria fall to the takfiris. Just like they made a mistake in letting Gaddafi fall. Putin has said the US is agreement incapable. He has directly said the US presidents change but the foreign policy doesn't. They were blatantly told the Minsk agreements were a scam to build up Ukraine militarily.I agree that the US would like Venezuela to fail along the lines of Syria without a full scale invasion but.... Venezuela does have oil. The logistics are easy compared to most any place else except Mexico. There are Venezuelans hungering to take over the reins of power and used to control the country. . Trump might need a full scale war to save the '26 congressional elections. I do think there are many Venezuelans who will resist.

I'm so grateful to Vanessa for introducing me to Fiorella's voice and work. I listened to her broadcast with Pasta and had a couple more thoughts I wanted to put here.
It reminded me that I'd never designed my system because the current one isn't good for US. It was because of the invisible violence it depended on. And those who support Mamdani because 'anyone who helps working people is good' are kidding themselves. And rent control, even if he did it, doesn't change that they still own everything.
Under my system, mortgages are only issued by commonwealth banks and the collective debt is distributed monthly to all long term residents IN ADVANCE of when it's due. So there's always enough in circulation to pay the debt, after stimulating local goods and services. In NYC and my home, California, the goal would be to cut the cost of housing in half. Housing is competitively priced at as much as the market can bear. If landlords require 4X the income as monthly payment for new rentals, it would reduce rents to 25% of what anyone can pay, not 33% (income at 3X) or 40% (income of 2.5X) as is currently the case here. To ignore the income parameters would risk forfeiting the ability to evict.
Of course, this is just one element of a complex system. But I agree with you that we're past the point of meaningless compromises on things we won't get anyway.
