A “Socialist” Victory Is Actually A Rebranded Liberal Capitalist Dream, That Distracts From Escalated Imperialism
Vanessa Beeley and I open our discussion by dissecting the recent election of Zoran Mamdani as Mayor of New York, as not as a “progressive victory” or a “socialist” takeover but rather a sophisticated form of controlled opposition that does not represent the two polarizing narratives created by the left and right. Mamdani, despite his self-labeled socialist and Muslim identity, is a product of the political elite, backed by figures like George Soros and surrounded by establishment Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Obama and the co-opted Squad in the “Progressive Caucus”. His immediate focus on combating “anti-Semitism” rather than general extremism is seen as a virtue signal to New York’s powerful Zionist lobby—which he has clearly been approved by, or deemed at least non-threatening enough. The frustration is that that so-called “leftists” are falling for this hopium yet again, ignoring red flags like his wealthy background, his wife’s pro-regime change history in Syria, and his use of dark money 501(c)(4) funds. Mamdani is a baby Obama—a rebranding of the same power structure designed to absorb and neutralize genuine dissent while providing a media spectacle.
Trump Administration Green-Lights Wider Conflict Against Hezbollah, LATAM and Looks to Africa
The real and pressing crisis: the Trump administration’s rapid escalation towards a regional war in West Asia. While many are distracted by the reality TV spectacle that’s become Mamdani, Pete Hegseth’s issued a direct warning to Iraq not to involve its resistance factions, reportedly urging that the U.S. halt the continued arming of resistance factions ahead of the November 11 elections. Meanwhile, Tom Barak effectively gave Israel a “green light” to disarm Hezbollah in Lebanon. The situation in Southern Lebanon mirrors that of Gaza, with daily bombings and forced evacuations. In response, Hezbollah has issued a public statement reserving its right to defend Lebanese sovereignty, a move interpreted as preparation for an imminent, larger conflict. This potential war could draw in Yemen and the Iraqi resistance, with the ultimate goal of isolating and crushing Palestine by dismantling its supporting Resistance Axis.
The geopolitical chess game extends into Syria, where a cynical partitioning deal’s being finalized under the guise of stability. The U.S. is returning troops to the Mezze airbase near Damascus to support Israeli interests, while Russia is negotiating to expand its own bases in Hama and Homs. This arrangement, facilitated through meetings with the leader of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) Takfiri faction, Ahmad al-Shadar (formerly Mohammed al-Jolani aka head-chopper), acts as a grand bargain between Washington and Moscow. Russia secures its strategic coastal presence and a launchpad into Africa, while the U.S. and Israel gain a cleared path for the David’s Corridor, a land bridge that would facilitate economic integration and effectively balkanize Syria, fulfilling the long-standing Clean Break doctrine for a Greater Israel.
Normalization, Realpolitik, and Russia’s Pragmatism Leading The Way To A Global Multipolar World—Not An Equal One
We also thoroughly dissect Russia’s pragmatic Realpolitik, especially regarding Kirill Dmitriev, a top Putin advisor (especially in economics and diplomacy) and investment banker with deep ties to U.S. institutions like Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, Blackwater and the World Economic Forum. Dmitriev, who is actively promoting a narrative of U.S.-Russia reconciliation based on “traditional Christian values,” is seen as a key architect of a pragmatic, transactional relationship with the Trump administration. His background and actions—including retweeting far-right, anti-immigrant figures like Tommy Robinson—demonstrate that Russia’s goal is not a revolutionary anti-imperialist struggle, but normalization and a seat at the table of the global capitalist order, even if it means sacrificing the sovereignty of allies like Syria and beyond. However, we note that Russia’s reputation and role is to often play neutral to ample sides, befriending everyone, which is why it’s simultaneous relationship with Iran and Israel, or Venezuela and it’s growing closeness with the U.S. is possible. They will help to a degree but only one that also advances their key strategic interests and does not undermine their goals.
Everything is Connected & Happening In Consequence of New Global Reality
Ultimately the manic focus on symbolic figures like Mamdani are a dangerous distraction from a coordinated, multi-front offensive. The real vital events are the expanding surveillance state in the U.S., led by a decaying economy, and a people manipulated to blame each other, instead of seeing the true enemy holding the strings.
On the most vital aspect to humanity is the increasing expansion of world powers, including Washington and the old West and Israel, as they target Latin America, West Asia and Africa, for minerals, oil, and total domination. Everything is connected and the defense of the Resistance Axis—comprising Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Iran—against a U.S.-Israeli plan for regional dominance is key here. We urge listeners to see through the traps of electoral politics and symbolic victories, which only delay meaningful change or worse, the inevitable collapse and any tactful prepartions for it. The urgent need is to recognize the interconnected nature of these conflicts and support the right of these nations and movements to resist, as the alternative is the prolonged agony of the region’s people and the triumph of an expansionist project that benefits only a transnational oligarchy—one affecting everyone not in this “big club”.
